Between the Lines

Through A Lens

Sometimes I miss those old friends.
(The ones that he and I shared).
It gets lonely with the wishing of
the loss between once cared.

I saw one just this evening,
a friend with cancer still.
The one who had the seizures
and became so violently ill.

He pulled his truck 'round corner, parked.
Jumped out to hug me tight.
Sometimes I miss those caring words,
the "I love yous" to warm the night.

I don't hear them often enough,
'cept from children that I teach.
And even though that perks me up
those words deep down don't reach.

I promised him to keep in touch,
to visit when I can.
But I miss those days that use to be
when we didn't have to plan.

When those of us would stop on by
no need for giving call.
Everyone just glad to meet
to spend time sharing all...

Sometimes I miss those old friends...
my old life     through a lens.

M

poem of great friendship. the warmth of winter and the cool wind of summer. I miss all of my friends and many are waiting for my call.

I am a friend ...as judged as "if Muhammad does not go to mountain, then mountain has to go to Muhammad"

a beautiful poem but a good reminder to me.

I can sure understand this. There are some who I miss seeing, too.

Sometimes
I stop and read
and realize
that I have not breathed
because I am caught on your words.

it is sad, b/c sometimes those friends are put a position of having to decide whose side to take...and believe me, they do feel badly about it....

Hugs, for this beautifully true write...

Looking through the photo album, the memory book of a life time passed, we see what we had forgotten and it seems as yesterday again. When friends meet, it is as if nothing has changed at all, we are comfortable and nothing has changed but a few more grey hairs and the advance of years. There are more friends to make and more albums to fill.

Enjoyed the read here.
