My Well My well now shows with clouds of grime It’s not the well of former time Where once I drank of crystal clear That’s how the waters did appear My time has changed the mirrors bring The face I see does not show spring It shows a Santa Claus of route Who’s face is creased and full of doubt The elves have gone and left convoy The toys lay still and unemployed The silence has a maddening ring The hive is gone all but the sting My buzz enlarged by empty walls By empty calls and empty stalls I walk within a phantoms nest Although my spirit has not crest I would to filter clouds of grime And drink once more clear former time |
