Happy Birthday…Again!

Another birthday…another year
Nothing’s changed much though I fear
Still holding on…still hanging tough
Gritting my teeth when times get rough
Still telling myself “it’s not over yet”
The sun's still shining…it hasn’t set
I’ve still got time to learn and grow
And teach the young ones all I know
A little more gray crept in my hair
A few more lines that were never there
A zipper won’t close…a button too tight
Though I tug and tug with all my might
I glance at the mirror, and turn away
I know that reflection is here to stay
But I’m at peace with what I see
For I know deep down…I’m still me
For better or worse…I’m still here
Still smiling…spreading good cheer
So I refuse to weep and sit and whine
Just because I’m Seventy Nine
While you may think I’m old as dirt
I still can boogey and love to flirt
Don’t count me out…I’m feeling fine
And glad I’m still here at Seventy Nine!
