serenity,

This sings to me like Jodi Foster's words/voice as she portrayed Nell in a movie of the same name.  Though her language was incomprehensible, its beauty, innocence, and power cannot be denied.  If you haven't seen the movie, it is one I'd highly recommend.

   I like this very much.

I wasn't gonna post this, because I said to myself, "Karen, they are gonna think you are nuts."

Then I told myself, "Karen, they already know you are nuts."

I can't tell you how "free-ing" that can be.

And I did actually put thought into this (blush--I actually edited to get the beats exactly right) because, well, it can be SANG.

And Sy, I'd love to watch you play with your bongos. *smooch*

Missy? I have seen Nell over a dozen times--I can really relate to her because nobody ever knows what I'm talking about either!

and the fair and lovely Helen--I miss you too lovie.

Thank you all for letting me be--ME.

Serenity...dear girl...

   "now--go, reeeeeeal slow"

I think that sorta grabbed my attention.

You've a gift.  The minute that "nuts" charges you to spread the word, let me know.

I've got a hell of a slingshot.

Karen,

Captures the spirit of the African rhythms.  As a musician myself, I could feel the energy of this poem.  Enjoyed.

You folks are somethin' else.

Just when I think ya'll won't "get" me--you do.

So much for me and my theories!

Just know that this was written by a woman who has sung the Iko song since she was three!

"Talk about hey now (hey now)
hey now (hey now)
Iko Iko on-day--
(oooooh-O)
Jockamo fee-no an nane'
Jockamo fee nane'!"

do you play the pots with the connecting brace loose or tight?  I was taught to play them with it loose so that the tone may be controlled by knee pressure.  I have found purists on both sides of the question.

Just curious.

BTW - nice riff.

You play those pots long enough, there ain't much choice...lmao

Bang a pot long enough, there's gonna be a loose connector.

Can't ya TELL?

Karen
this was a catching tune...

must admit, while reading, I was dancing in my mind...to the beat

well done

and oh,

Ah-sway-oh?

Ah-sway-oh!
(Ah-sway-oh)
Ah-sway-oh!

I know it wasn't your intention, but Ah-sway-oh, reminded me of Oswego New York, where we went fishing...beautiful there....

very enjoyable write

But did you HAVE to mention Iko? LOL I won't be leaving work today... I'll be tossed out by my coworkers! *G*

Gal... you've got heart... you've got rhythm... and you manage to give words to things I would have sworn had to be FELT. *S*

I'm here in the office singing this.  Luckily no customers came in.  Of course, they know what I am, so it really doesn't matter.  I love it!

nodding..you SHOULD laugh.

Note the time of this post--it was late, or early, depending on if you slept, and I was just drumming and trying to whisper my little "tune", stopping and typing and editing...

I think my skins need tightening now.

And folks? If you want your own room? Try this at home. They will find a way.

Thank you all for singin' along!
