This one's a sequel to the earlier posted "Vineyard Dance" (Kind of a "morning after" if you will). Stepping softly down the row ‘Tween the dew and damselflies Blinking in the ruddy glow Moonlight glinting in my eyes What’s this crown of supple stems? And what’s this piece of broken flute Why the drum with crimson rims And what’s this strange abandoned lute Up starts Sun all slumber-slow (As he’s been ever since his birth) And stares down dumbly far below At little hoof-prints in the earth |

I am greatly impressed by these 'vineyard' poems! .....PARTICULARLY: “Make me a crown of the leaves of the vine Come take my hand and dance Sing of the summer and sing of the wine Dripping from knot-twisted branch Come bathe ye in moonlight, come bathe ye in oil Come let go your trouble, and shake off your toil Come sing of the day and not of the morrow….” AND: “….For living is ours, and ours is this eve To whirl, to laugh, and never to leave Bring me the flute, and bring me the drum Drink of the Lethe, forget all and come…” ALONG WITH: “.....What’s this crown of supple stems? And what’s this piece of broken flute Why the drum with crimson rims And what’s this strange abandoned lute...." Up starts Sun all slumber-slow (As he’s been ever since his birth) And stares down dumbly far below At little hoof-prints in the earth....” Welcome to 'P.I.P' and please continue to grace these lovely blue pages with such 'writes'! |

Enjoyed the walk my friend...traipsed a number of vinyards way back in my California Dreaming days...well maybe California Reality days back in late 60's, early 70's when it was Really Wonderful to be there and gas was 12.5 cents a gallon... Anyway...relate well to your write in several ways...much enjoyed... from Texas too... j. |
