Streaks of blue and yellow paint the night as the midnight sun glows in the eerie sky splotches of color appear like an impressionist gone mad with the artist’s brush on canvas Night air is damp and heavy with the chill of a winter uncertain of it’s identity gasping to survive the assault of spring clutching to the memory of a frozen world The breath escapes my body in a fog of white floating in the stillness like smoke drifting upward in slow, deliberate motion to disappear like a fading dream of gray Disappearing like a fading dream of you merging into the fabric of the night lost to another time, another dimension as the icicle of winter grips my heart I ache for the spring’s healing thaw too long is the night of the midnight sun return to me the breath of the southern wind bring the warmth of spring back to my life You have traveled far from this lonely heart left to grapple with the dearth of winter impatiently waiting for the resurrection of a soul lost without your love the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Surreal and romantic! An interesting combination that works for me. I’m intrigued that you have winter being assaulted by spring … the longing to stay in a frozen state that is safe? Then the nice transition (with the fog) into the narrator’s lost love and yearnings. Ink runs from the corners of my mouth |
