Daybreak Night scoffs at the rising sun. A blaze of fire states “I’ve won.” The trees still clad in black display Give way to light this wintry day; Their silhouettes slice the changing sky As the sun keeps climbing high. Does Mother Nature ever sleep? Or does she word-paint vision-keep? Smiling down between her beams, She sends the snow and frost that teams Up with the artist’s brush of white And tints the land a frosty sight. |

Dear Barb: This is lovely! It certainly is a frosty sight here today and imagine it is there where you are too! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

This is beautiful. I think she comes to Alaska to sleep the winter away. You wrote this so well. Thank you for sharing it. Alison |

Winter tree silhouettes slicing the changing dawn sky as apparent beyond them to the poet's eye is a good enough imagery for praise! Thanks! I don't think Mother Nature sleeps in this way, if moon and starlight, or town lights reflected from clouds beyond the trees is any indication. ![]() |
