Release

Tears won't bring him back to me.
Why then do I cry?
Tears won't wash away the pain
I'll have until I die.

But if tears bring a small relief
More healing than a sigh,
The slightest easing of my grief
Is reason enough to cry.

a touching revalation dear Joyce. You are always in my prayers.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

very expressive poem, joyce, and a "release" can serve as a catharsis, both by writing and shedding tears. you express emotional strength in your poem and i sense physical and spritual strength as well. i feel the poem reaches out and touches all of us. thus, hopefully, easing your burden of grief.

Thank you friends, for your kindness and understanding.  It will be nine years this coming month, since I lost my only son.  I have blessings beyond description and dear and loved ones around me but I would not be a normal mother if the tears did not come at times for that precious one, no longer among them. Among my blessings I count the wonderful friends I have found in these forums.  Love, Joyce

Dear Joyce,
I agree. Writing it down and talking with someone are good remedies but, as you say, to release a tear is also needed.
Thank you for your wonderful poem,
Melton

Dear Joyce:

Such a touching poem and I can understand your feelings. The pain is never far below the surface and sometimes you can't keep the tears from breaking free.

Dear Joyce,
you express a great truth in such a beautiful way.
The loss of a child is beyond doubt the greatest pain that a Mother might experience. Not easy at all to cope with.

You are a beautiful soul and you surely feel the connection of love that goes on ...

Thank you for this little gem born in your heart.

love
