just a moment more just a moment more in the instant that it takes for you to raise the corners of your mouth i'll enjoy the look of frustration soon to be amusement on your face, the tears managing to tear themselves from your defiant brown eyed frown a frown i knew all too well your captivating gaze drilling your discontentment into my soul and i suddenly felt....fine i tried to make sense of it all the hours, the weekends, messages on my answering machine spending my sundays watching you spend your hard earned salary on living life a little something i've decided to take a break from a long time ago faint memories of you trying to make me break free the years you spent leading me by the hand your firm yet gentle grasp keeping me from falling in line with the others we watched as the world and the people on it went by working for expensive caskets to lay in when their time here was done and found ourselves more lost and confused than ever but at least we had gotten somewhere, even if we didn't know exactly where 'somewhere' was. at least we knew we were alive. at least you are with me. just a moment more and there will be nothing left except for....things items left over from the hours, the weekends sundays spent watching you spend your hard earned salary on just living life a little and for just a moment more everything was.......fine. I want life in every word, to the extent that it's absurd.- The Postal Service |
