Come take a book and be put under a spell, By Wizards with pencils and stories to tell. Watch well the words that wind and twist, With pictures unfolding in the chilly mist. Fantasies of dragons on far away lands, Opposed by knights on sun reflecting sands; Wizards’ shooting out spells like fast falling stars, Against tremendous armies with deep carven scars. Reading pages long gone in history, With Indians and war bands, their lances bristly. While reading a book, my mind swiftly paces, A galloping horse at the great Ascot races. Whether jeweled dragons or jaded dragoons, Or gun-totting cowboys spitting in spittoons, The words are a flood ready to take you away, Which will ensnare you so you can’t get away. |
