The Novice Witch

I am a novice witch and I
Must really try to learn to fly,
For Halloween is now at hand.
Others tell me it is grand
To zoom around, that spooky night,
Causing folks to cringe with fright.
If the moon is full, you'll see
Groups of witches, two or three,
Soaring past its face full bore.
After all, that's what we're for.
That and casting spells of course.
Last year I became a horse
And galloped madly here and there,
Finding people I could scare.
I was black with flaming eyes.
Quite a wonderful disguise!
But I can't fly, I wonder why?
It isn't that I never try.
My feet seem glued to Mother Earth,
Which gives my coven so much mirth
And yet they let me hang around
In case someday, I leave the ground!

Sweetest little Witch-of-the-Night
I fear you give me too much fright
I'd surely join you, but I just might
be literally afraid of the height
I'd have to fly to take a bite
of all the goodies in my sight
But just in case I decide it's right
Perhaps I'll wait until it's light
and send my Halloween Wishes upon a kite
frightening everyone in sight !!!

Won't you please be stopping by
To take me with you, if there's room
Upon your super-souped-up broom?
Be sure to wear some heavy clothes,
Assuming you have some of those!
It's going to be a frigid night
On Halloween, but that's all right,
For witches fly no matter what!
I'll loan you woolies that I've got!
