On the Forest Floor All dies and not alone, in a quiet war, on the forest floor. Yet, what be the aspirations of these trees? For 300 years, preceding me, they dropped their tiny acorns to the ground where, now, the canopies of seven giant white oaks abound. Oh, what be the aspirations of men like you and me if not to be long standing and useful like the trees? Through the loud noise of chain-saws and dozers and cities being built, there is still a silent war of sorts as acorn sprouts compete on the remaining forest floor.
