I scampered then among the ghosts Who rattled chains at night. And blushed in white, when faces green Stirred caldrons at the sight Of the haunted castle where an eerie cobweb hangs Over spooky teams of creatures With gruesome ghastly fangs. It was worrisome, I say, but it was Halloween. Today is April fool’s day; it’s nowhere near the scene Of creepy crawly spiders and pointed witch’s hats, Skeletons and reapers and lovely swarms of bats. On April 1st we took the straw that scared away the crows. And give it some new fingers and some ugly hairy toes. We drew a map of where you live and made a shiny key. Now, talk about a real joke, just you wait and see! |

I leave my Halloween decorations up all year round so this must be my inspiration. |

Hi Barb: Really cute poem! So far I have been safe from April Fool's pranks, but of course, it's not dark yet either! Love Betty Lou |
