I watch you leave me standing here,
That’s when I realize, you don’t care.
Silver tears fall down my cheeks,
causing stains that won’t be seen.

My heart is cracking, but it can’t show.
Ribs contracting in, that won’t let go.
My misty breath freezing in my windpipe,
changing from the outside, hurting inside.

My identity has been stolen from me.
I have lost the ability to just be.
It has taken months for me to change in this way,
took one look,to make me realize just how insane.

Becoming somebody I am not, switching places,
evolving into the characters I used to hate.
Scared of who I am and who I‘ve become.
I say things that I don’t mean and sound dumb.

Deciding not to feel anything at all so I can’t get hurt.
That way I don’t know how to cry no more, when they treat me like dirt.
Building a rugged dam to help restrain my tears back.
Turning into a faker, just putting on an act.

i loved that other's poetry can show you who you really are. these two lines really rang true to me
