I need out of here.
I can't survive;
I'm like a plant
trying to grow in the dark.
Trust is like the light,
and I need it to live.
Take it away,
and I die,
slowly and painfully.
Salt water I have in plenty,
it seems,
but I am not an ocean,
unless, perhaps, one polluted.
And if I am, then again,
I suffocate,
like a fish upon the land.
But I have no gills, so, perhaps,
I drown.
Drowning in air?
It seems I am.
Not all, but some, and I am one,
need love more than a heart and lungs.
What are they, but masses of cells?
I can survive, purely on love
but refrain from giving a dog food,
and even it will die.
Starvation is a form of torture;
when the love I need lies half a continent away,
what is this, then, but torture?
to keep me from talking to him,
stop me from seeing him,
to tell me I can't love him
is certainly akin
to spilling my blood
yourself.
For no matter how it comes about,
by my hand or yours,
it is no longe replacable.
A plant I am-
oppressed beneath the weeds.
Lost in the thorns-
thorns meant to protect,
but still they sting, and force me
to recoil.
Hope there is no more-
it has deserted me,
like the bee does the flower,
when the nectar is depleted.
And certainly, all the nectar is gone-
all that once brought joy
to this life of mine
has been taken, in one way or another.
So, like a plant,
I die from lack of light.

Remember:Tuck your chin, you're going to get hurt, so expect it and be ready. You might as well see it coming.
