The Riddle of Light

The darkness holds secrets and lies and deceit
And strangers you would not like to meet

There’s nothing to fear from things in the light
Or things that do shine of the same

But light has a secret, a riddle as well…
It always requires a flame!
(solve the riddle)

You were right Kate! In fact I'm interested to see what others get out of it. I had at least a dozen meanings flying around my head when I wrote this, and everyone will come up with a different one depending on how they define light, and thus what they see as the source of it in their lives.

hey hey,
the fire destroys, but it is also the light? with out the darkness, there can be no light? just a guess, what it means to me.

this was fun! haha. I must admit that I have read this several times and have tried to twist and destroy the meanings, but the one that keeps coming back to me is that in order for the flame to come, there must be some sort of spark. sparks are caused by friction which often means some sort of difficulty. basically, I found that both the light and the dark have discomfort although with light you can ultimately see. (although there is always shadow...hmmm)

Thanks Earl!

Well, maybe I'm thinking to deep, but what I get from the riddle is that light requires a purpose. Whether it be kindness, love, happiness, or optimism. Darkness is what is always there regardless. As you stated light needs to be produced. Unlike darkness, light just doesn't occur. Light has to be generated whereas darkness is the result when whatever is generating the light cease. Apprently someone just got tired of living in the Dark.... Yeah I just re-read what I wrote and I HAD to be thinking too hard. lol.... =)

Signing off,

Wow guys! Thanks for reading, and for thinking so hard! I agree with all of you, Kate and Zach, stop being curious!
I wrote this but even then I didn't know all the meanings to it and I've forgotten some since! So thanks and I love the deep thinking,  Sunny you hit on a lot of things that were going through my head as I wrote this, (and some I might have had)
young_blood you are brilliant.
