I wrote this poem from the point of view of my girlfriend and everything she went through before I asked her out and I was blind to how she really felt about me. First time I've written a poem from someone elses point of view. You Said... Each and every day I have longed for your love, As I sit back and watch as you pass on by. Day after day you insist you like her more, And I sit there and smile as I secretly admire, Your brown eyes and hair so precious, Your tall, fleeting grace so grand. The day you said it wasn’t going to work, With the girl you’ve liked for so long. My heart skipped a beat and I leapt to my feet, As I hoped we had one shot to kindle this fire. I’ve seen you in class every day, I’ve watched you from afar. You seem to not take notice, I’m a year younger, why would you want me? I hang back quietly in my corner, Thinking of all we could be and all we could do. The day you said you liked another girl, My heart skipped a beat and fell to the floor. My dreams had been crushed and I knew it would never be, As you skip along and move to girl number three. As that girl moved on and dropped you like a fly, I sat back and prayed that in your arms I will end. You walked me to my locker and asked me for my number, I talked to you all night long hanging up is a bummer. I saw you the next day and you asked me to the game, That fateful game that started it all. The day you said you liked me too, My heart skipped a beat and I flew from this Earth. My prayers had been answered and I knew we would be, The greatest couple in all of history. You gave me a poem that asked the question, As I said yes and fell into your arms, My heart fluttered and stomach sank Everyone noticed and I rejoiced, Finally I had you and everything was right. Suddenly it was all worth it, The many hours of crying and many months of waiting. Now you are here and forever you will be, In my arms you shall never leave. The day I said I love you, Is the day I saw your eyes sparkle. I knew you loved me too, And that made it all worth our while. I watched you in class and knew one day You would realize how perfect we truly are. The day finally arrived and now here we are, Nothing can keep our love behind bars. |
