You Just Don't See It

I see your fingers lace with hers,
Why can’t they be with mine?
I told you when we were first friends,
“Please don’t let me down”

“No one can care for you,
How I care for you
I’ll never break you down,
I’ll always lift you up”

I believed you when you told me that,
So why haven’t you locked up my trust?
You’re the only one who’s ever had it,
And you still took me for granted

Why can’t you see me the way I see you?
Why can’t I be the owner of your thought, like you are of mine?
You light up all my dark days,
When will the day come, when I do the same for you?

I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why can't it be mine?
