this boy's too young to be singing the blues |

He gazed at his left palm, a blue ink writ, A number there to memory commit, Imprinting it along the eyes, and lips And pigments on the cheeks of one fair chit. The afternoon’s parfait still lingering on Their tongues, they played the songs of Elton John, And talked of music and the arts, his love Pure like the swan and gentle as a fawn. He spent the night awake to reminisce The evening shared, the taste of his first kiss, The softness and the warmth of her white skin; A new boy on the block had just found bliss. When he next called, she couldn’t speak to him. He called again, and called for days, first sad, then grim, To no avail. Now he goes on the streets At night to drink, his light of hope grown dim. |

The first disappointments after promising romantic events such as the one you describe so beautifully, are always highly dramatic. It's part of the youth, isn't it? This boy will be better off if he continues to reminisce and write poems instead of drowning the sadness in a bottle. But it's so real, no doubt. Enjoyed this much. Love, Margherita |

Thanks for reading, Margherita. Not to worry, the boy is writing poetry today, and hasn't drowned himself in the bottle for the last 15 years or so Mark |

M-A this is moving and a piece of human condition, without love we can't even love ourselves, love is reciprocity and the most precious gift in the world, Thanks for the beautiful poem. yann |
