Flights Of Wanderlust When canvas snaps to eventide On crimson bay, A forestay filled with joyous ride Bears me away. This little ship in followed sea Is carried high on crest to lee, As flights of fancy find collide With stirring spray. In gentle breeze, or blustered gale Of lot's befall, I know that future fate's prevail Will stay the call. A tiny ship in slumbered swoon O'er mystic rainbow rising moon, On winsome waters that I sail Into enthrall. Our lives are filled with fruitful dreams When we are young And tales of sails to odd regimes become far-flung. A slender ship that slips the waves and sets the tender to their braves, Is measured in an eye that gleams At stories sprung. turtle |

I am really enjoying the poetry that you have been posting - but this is my favorite, hands down. Alison |

Thank you both for commenting. I was really suprised to see this back. I'd thought it had slipped off the page unnoticed. This is a new ballad form created by a friend. I too like the tension and release, similar to free verse, it creates. turtle |

turtle, your beautiful poem whisked me back to the sea dreams of my childhood. One thing my parents did for me if nothing much else, was to read me poetry and much of that was about the sea . . . Thank you. Owl |

turtle - too good a write to let it slip by. I'm glad I found it... BC |
