I sit here in the wind watching the easing of the light
The sun slips from the church’s steeple turning into the twilight
Standing with a shrug I walk with the wind into the night
Darkness devoured the day
Clouds hide the starlight’s way
The dark becomes a drizzle to chill to ice
Winds whips up to add a robust slice

Drizzle dark becomes pellets
Wounding.

I feel touch
But lacking the warmth for worth;
I accept,
Pay the price,
How can you value touch’s worth?
Till it’s gone,
Is no price,
Just the remembering feel
Of what was,
And won’t be,
Lost to the encroaching real;
I need touch.

Arrived
Through bolts and locks
I closet my leather and begin some tea
Soon there are two felines begging to me
But they want for nothing save the notice of seeing
A rub, a pet, what ever they can get, to verify their being
Then they wander off to watch out a pelted window
As I sit and sip pondering the future in the shadow
And before long the hall clock is sounding out tomorrow.

Partial Thoughts

I sit here in the cold
watching for each morning rise.
The dark slips from my memory,
wishing to hold on a bit longer.

Pressing my thoughts with an iron hand,
the swing of, a torturous weight.
Though free from some worries, others arise,
leaving the happy behind.

There's snow in the promise
to freeze the thoughts,
those pleasant memories of when,
and the building of.

I feel for the touch,
sometimes forgotten,
but I accept,
knowing it's in the wait,
my value.

The real is there
for the sharing,
though tempting
are the thoughts
to replace words
with the unconditional love
of another Sugar or Ginger.

Hesitatingly aware~~

Very apropos...bone-chilling 'single digits,' even 'warmer' days when it creeps into the 20's grows tiresome quite fast.
I'm ready for 60+F, but accept we have several weeks of winter left before robins and flowering buds shout SPRING.
