One more teen age poem, if you can stand it. OUR GOVERNMENT By Billie age 16 Our government does some foolish things Some times we don't approve. But it belongs to the good old U.S.A. And brother, it's right in the groove. We live in a land of democracy. Where people young and old Have rights and privileges just the same As those higher up, I'm told. When the worthy men of yesteryear Made the constitution great They fixed it so that every one Was privileged to partake. In all the things our land might do In the government so big. We have to keep our faith in it Or we are nothing but a prig. Who takes all he can get from it And never says, "Thanks Chum." Don't bite the hand that's feeding you Praise it for what it has done. God looked down and blessed us. He made America most divine. We better see that our government Keeps it just that fine. Wtiten about 1943 |

Yo dear Billie, I love it. The country and the poem. That's the first time in years I've seen "prig" used in any type of writing. It's a good word, but you have to really hate prigs. They are bad, unpleasant people. They are not related to pigs either. I like pigs--oink. Love Bobby |

The poem is ripe, u have a wonderful talent, the poems subject in question is very nice very patriotic and very real. But there is a world to explore, don't just statisfy yourself what is given to u in a silver plater. That's advice for the both of us. |

Yes, we do have to keep our faith. Without faith, there is nothing what would happen. |
