The flags are waving briskly,
As they honor fallen dead.
“All gave some, but some gave all.”
These words I’ve often read.

I doff my hat in real respect-
For veteran’s graves I find,
But what about the sacrifice-
Of those they left behind?

The boy who’s daddy never lived,
To see him graduate.
The girl who’ll walk the aisle alone,
Since her dad met his fate.

And what about the widows-
With families left to raise.
Their sad family reunions
Are held among the graves.

And mothers, yes, and fathers-
Growing old, who mourn the loss.
Of sons they taught to love the flag-
But, O, the dreadful cost!

Patriotic foolishness?
Perhaps, but this I see…
If loving God and country-
Is foolish, so I be!

Thank you for the love and feelings you have so well expressed.  As the mother of a Marine who served in Veat-Nam and is no longer with me I thank you again.

Love to you and yours.

"But what about the sacrifice-
Of those they left behind?"
No more need be said than this, everyone suffers from war.

To give your life for something you love, is not a loss or tradgity.
For no greater gift is given than to die for those you love, and though they mourn the loss, they treasure the strength of the person and cherish the soul of the fallen Hero.

wonderfull rememberence poem.

There are so many who suffer because of the war. And, for those who fought in the war, those memories are always there. I have high respect for them all. Right now, I take care of Veterans in their homes.
