I read this in the wee hours last night, and felt like a mouse frozen in the shadow beneath the great owl's wings. A few years ago a small barn owl flew into my headlights as I slowly drove a twisting road around the bay after dark. It was so stunned, but remained standing on the yellow line of the road after I'd turned around to see the damage done. I didn't know what to do, but soft yellow light gleamed from a nearby house so I knocked on the door. As heaven would have it, the man who lived there worked for the Audoubon refuge in Bandon. We gently put a jacket over the bird and set it inside a box. He was released back into his own domain a couple of weeks later, hopefully wiser, but no worse for the wear. I love it when I get to see a miracle of God's heart.  |

I'd love to fly as beautifully and gracefully as your words do Linda. I am a bit of a night owl myself, and often see them, white as banshees, swooping over the common when I go walking. |
