A Mother's Heart

When God sends down a precious child from heaven up above
He also sends a vessel strong to bring it warmth and love
The vessel that the good Lord sends is called a Mother’s heart
It occupies the highest place at the top of heaven’s chart

This vessel holds more valuables than any treasure chest
A Mother’s heart holds purest love beneath her tender breast
Her heart is tender, soft, and sweet when nurturing her child
But if that babe is threatened then that heart is quickly riled

Only a Mother’s heart can heal and dry her children’s tears
Or hold them tight so late at night to chase away their fears
A Mother’s heart will share in all their sorrows, joys, and pain
It does these things unselfishly with naught an ounce to gain

She cares for their well being with no thought about her own
But she will reap a great reward when all her babes are grown
She'll hear the words that have a meaning unlike any other
When gratefully with all their hearts they say “I love you Mother”

(A belated Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers)

Thank you for this, because it's true. As a mother I find that it's an overflowing love that only each mother, individually, can experience. Well done!

Stephen thank you so much for this wonderful tribute to Mothers.

You are so right about the special hearts of mothers, there is more capacity for love than one might imagine.

Love,
Margherita

This should be the official Mother'd Day poem, Stephen.

You just wrote one of the Universal truths. ...I got tears reading this, just an old soft touch, I guess. Thank you, Steve.
