you played with your cat when you talked to me on the phone
about how your kind of love should just fit over your skin
and be visible only when you wanted that kind of tattoo

and being removable too would make it all so much better
because yours was more temporary,  like the just treating my diseases kind
for those hard conditions that wouldn't kill me, at least not quickly

you were dying to find out just how close to heaven I could possibly bring you
or if you would get the hell burned out of you in the process
and you kind of hoped you would since there was fire in my eyes sometimes

you knew I wouldn't bring snowballs or flowers on your holidays
but that I would carry you beyond that wanting if you didn't hold on
and if you didn't mind derailing you train just to get the tracks clear

so we could finally ignore those lights at the other end of your funnel

Now that's a perspective!

Dear D., the whole poem is a delight to read.

Don't neglect the idea of gifting us with a book, or two or three or how many it takes to fill them with your masterful poetry!

... so that we can linger on them.

Love and joy.

Maybe I interpret things all wrong, but the way this read was painful. It was beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it hurt to read. It made me think, geesh, how involuntary love SHOULD be..but we all have these ideas that love is something we create because we're so obsessed with having power over our nature. Methinks I think too much.. so I digress..

Beautiful work, even though it made me feel. heh

Ms K. Painful as heck, intentional barbed wire booties with saltwater socks, however it is still love

Thanks lady.
