The rose, embedded in the palm of your hands
white, not a blemish thereon,
the thorns, tuck themselves beneath your flesh
like wounds that life has torn.

I see you in this portrait of dark, where the light
of dawn cannot be,
but streams of light flicker down,
silently lay upon thee.

your head cast low, from the bittersweet life
you have lived in pride and excess,
your skin transparent in this light
hiding your pain without success.

I can see your bones, beneath your flesh
and veins that life moves within,
each and every course they make
travels memories paper thin.

holding the rose to the light, I see
you in mortal prayer,
regret of the all the pleasure and pain
so clear upon the air.

I could not save you from this fate
I could not break through your ice,
cold it is, captive it be,
chained this is your vice.

Yet you save this one perfect rose,
look upon it as one last dream,
is this perhaps your savior
or just the last memory of me?

ARH;

Thank you so much! The writing is from a painting I was going to paint a few years back, I still had it on my mind recently and instead of painting it I decided to put it into pen instead.

SeraphimBroken - if your painting is half as good as this poem it would be excellent. Nice write...

You are amazing with your words.
I can only imagine how good your painting must be.

ARH; I mostly work in the oil medium, but sometimes impatience causes me to choose acrylics
I have no website as of yet, I might give that a whirl....

Bill, Suncleaver; (humble smile here) thank you very much!

CG; (blushing) Thank you for words! I am rather my own worst critic on my oil visions. I tend to toss myself in the hat as average.
