Being Surfer Joe

Upon the reef
he broke his leg
riding the big one
that got away,
and it broke his heart.
Not the missing of that wave
but all the beautiful waves
he missed that came after,
he missed the anticipation,
the thrill, the joy
and the laughter.
But come tomorrow
the cast will be done
and he'll be back in the surf
soaking up the sun,
experiencing the fun
of being surfer Joe.

Yo James,

That sounds really great there in beautiful Hawaii.  I always liked it there.  Really nice poem.  Go head Joe.

Never surfed, but I can feel the need for ever-tomorrow surfing. Once bitten, forever snared. You hit the nail firmly on the head.
