Bones likes to go visit the Cow.
She lives across the alley.

She tells good stories
about The Lone Ranger
and Tonto.

She sits her big self down
on a sturdy bench.

The Cow is big and fat.

She once was probably
good looking,
but she’s widened out.

Her own kids are kind of bored.
They’ve heard the stories before.

They lay half naked in the dust,
looking hungry and tired.

The Cows old man
throws open the back door.

He stands screaming
in the yellow glow
of the mosquito bulb.

He throws out
an empty quart beer bottle
that crashes in the yard.

The Cow continues
with her story.

Bobby

Thanks dear SEA,

You would have enjoyed the Cow.  She had other good stories too.

This was back in the days when we listened to the Lone Ranger on Radio.  That's about 60 years ago.

I always wondered why The Lone Ranger wore a mask. He never had a day job to cover up, like Batman, and that white horse was a giveaway, even if he'd worn a reversed balaclava.
Your tales of bones are a must read.

She sounds like an interesting woman with a lot of stories to tell. At least the Lone Ranger ones are happier than any of the personal ones that she could have told.

Thanks Osprey,

I think he wore that mask so that at the end of the program someone could say:

"Who was that masked man?" as he rode off into the sunset.

Do you remember that?

Thanks dear Linda,

Yes, what you say is true.  She was a poor woman, her kids were poor, her husband was poor, and all of us were poor.

She brought some good times into everyones life with her stories.

Thanks Bill,

Yes, I think everyone liked the Lone Ranger.

A lot of people were watching it with you.
