When were you Ever in my life Did I ever see you Once on a street Or in a corridor Even briefly Passing by Was there instead Some garden or grove Where you quietly lived Shaded and hidden From physical view I missed along the way The leafless trees Stoically await Another spring A stolid sun Again Falls below My western sky When were you Ever there To be sought Or found Let alone Happened upon Giving light With a look . |
