OUR DRIVEWAY
23 July 2001

Sundrops
lighting up our laughter
laughing in our eyes
splashes on our shoulders
as we scamper up
our driveway
hand in hand
in earth-stained abandon.

Your brushstrokes kissed the light,
the mood, the moment,
illuminating.

How I wish you hadn’t
rent the canvas
in two
between
you
and
me
in dying leaves, remembering.

Each evening I scrape
the owl feathers and squirrel hair
off the saddened tamboti bark
but

each morning
it’s all back
in mourning.

What a beautiful and poignant write, Diana.
I can see the driveway, the leaves, the owl feathers and squirrel hairs.

Thank you, Alison.  You, too, are beautiful - without and within and in the poetry and photography you produce.

Beautifully poignant, m'dear.

Especially,
