Wide eyed looking up, papa's voice tingled my spine, fiery dragons roared and wicked witches cackled in Grimm dark scary castles. Fleeing heros cut down beanstalk fee fie foes, jumping jacks and jills on dancing feet played on glossy butterscotch cobblestones. Sunset circled hills, fishin poles waiting, anxiously I recalled a Robin taking breakfast ticking and yanking at a tireless prey, goin fishin I giggled at father's rote verses of two odd fishing partners preparing a feast and unshelling morsels on a sunset washed shore. Weary with happiness...booked into gaurdian inn, with golden weights on my eyelids, my soul's imaginary bedfellows....sharing the last whisper of lips .. a distant past, lost to tales as colorful as jellybeans, lingering longing memories of Knights in bedtime kingdoms and father's fading voice. |

My Mom was such a great story teller when my brothers and I were young. Makes me long for those moments, just before drifting off to sleep. on glossy butterscotch cobblestones...I LOVE that description. The entire piece is so vivid. I really enjoyed this. ~Maranda |

Actually Bobby I didn't have him around. It was really my Grandfather who I refer to as my father. He's the one that raised me. My father took off when I was six and I didn't see him again until I was 19. He didn't even try to call. My mother had a tough time financially raising me so the grandparents stepped in and helped. My Grandfather was really the ultimate Scottish storyteller in my life and he became my father. He's the one that taught me about life. Thanks for the read and the comment. Eric |
