breathe the crisp air of renewal feel your arm hairs rise in a brisk midnight blue breeze crawl on your knees in a meadow overflowing with dancing wildflowers courted by arm-embracing oak trees listen to a rattlesnake crawl and the shape shifters call sit on a mesa at dawn’s early light so much beauty, so little time before your final flight |

Aw you're gonna be around for a long time yet. You have to be because this is your job, write poetry so others can enjoy it. Vivid images bring this to life. Tell me seriously, can you really hear a rattlesnake crawl.....Aw c'mon kin ya? Eric |

Oh, boy, do I LOVE this! I think my favourite favourite part is listening to a rattlesnake crawl (Eric, that is just the point - you have to listen so very hard to try to - and if you do, you will almost hear a rattlesnake crawl). This is about your renewal, Kacy, as well as Gaia's. The end is a sobering note - but simply truthful, not dwelling on the fear nor describing a sense of doom, and applicable to all of us at all times. We all need to take in the whole poem, including those last 3 lines. I think you are employing a family of muses and that they are all doing shifts. If you only had one, she couldn't possibly be responsible for all your poetry lately. She would have been exhausted long ago! Owl |

Yo Kacy, It's almost warm enough to sit outside and interact with the beauty here in the hood. Love Bobby |

Eric...you must sit still in the desert or rocky west coast canyons. Shhh...listen to the shifting sands or vegetation movements. Flight time follows its own calendar, but my calendar is full right now. Diana, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it must be read as a 'whole'...the way life is received. Bobby, it's pretty darn chilly and windy today, but it will warm again. |

I don't want to be close enough to a rattlesnake to hear his crawl *shudder* (sometimes I think I'm defined by my phobias LOL) So... you and Owl can have the snake... and all his kin!... with my blessings (and gratitude *G*) I think I'll stick with the wildflowers... their beauty reminding me of your words... and whisper a prayer that last flights are a long way away... for all of us. *S* Beautiful work!! |

Midnitesun - yes, I've heard a rattlesnake crawl, and sniffed the cool breeze, and also crawled. You sure we haven't met... BC |

Thank you for reading, Vandana, Margherita, Bill. Bill, glad to hear you understand. Did you ever spend time in the southwest where rattlers are common? |

I read this as a more romantic (maybe that isn't the word I'm looking for, but anyway) way to "stop and smell the roses" I really LOVE this! |

Absolutely beautiful. I often feel drawn to the deserts of the southwest. I hope to travel there some day. ~Maranda |

M: I just returned from a stay at a cold and blustery beach, to find warm and fragrant breezes and the trilliums in full bloom. You have worded this elation quite well! |

Listening to the sounds of nature is a favorite past time of mine and I applaud you for reminding us in such beautiful fashion. I definitely agree with the time issue no matter no matter who you are. There is too much nature has to offer and far too little time to enjoy it. |
