Sky Dancers

most of the neighbors
don’t like you
how you hang on
the fence gossiping
I’m not like them
and don’t mind it at all
I have heard your secrets
long after the darkness’s
curtain heavily has fallen
high above the leaves
a moonlight serenade
I hear your songs
it is a warbling lullaby
between some distant clock
a timeless ritual
of a lovers struggle
looking for another
to warm your cold nest
we both have a secret dream
that edges above distance
and one day you will find me
underneath the velvet night
and I too shall sing
like the sky dancers

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

I loved the title too, but if you are referring to crows, or woodpeckers, I am unfortunately with your neighbours on this one. You clever thing you - skydancers indeed!

Creative imagery, as always.

Helen - these words are so romantic to me, I'm glad you found them to write in this writing...

a lovers struggle
looking for another
to warm your cold nest
we both have a secret dream
that edges above distance
and one day you will find me
underneath the velvet night
and I too shall sing
like the sky dancers

Always secret dreams to meet under a velvet night...
