    Wisdom of the Forest

By time-stolen moments,
walk in  the simple wisdom
of an empty twilight forest.

Be the small boat passing
on a gentle lake without
   traces;

and, like pale, streaming-
moonbeam effervescence,
asking nothing…
shine with the pure, soft
light of humility, grace,
forbearance, and calm
   benevolence,
all the days of your life
in this ever-darkling world.
