Cans and String

The words write themselves from my heart to yours
These days dipped in subtle snow showers, spring hovers in the wings
Crushed like velvet, my heart does not flee, flat and lifeless
But draws breath, filling with visions that remain gently chained to destiny
If naught but dreams descended to make warm the tatters of yesterday
Then, their gleaming chaste in spirit and in root
Has made a garden, tendering of Robert’s rose, ambitious and unyielding
You are dear to me, sparking emotion and devotion as indemnity
The point of my pen, dipped sparingly into watercolors, and indelible lines
Spring comes, cleansing months of cold and barren skies in pleasing rain
Eroding away the harder shell, and crust of deceptive hours hard without hope
Daily chores pale in futile drifted footfall, back in time and away
For new again, each breath I draw fills the puckered edges of crushed velvet
Each beat stronger, moving through the rivers of my soul
Filling in the gaps, flowering with joy
Near again, the Archer passes
Familiar hums in sweet and
Welcome time

TD

"If naught but dreams descended to make warm the tatters of yesterday
Then, their gleaming chaste in spirit and in root
Has made a garden,"

It is so.

Martie already ‘hi-lited’ the finest part; however, I am also especially  fond of:

“The point of my pen, dipped sparingly into watercolors, and indelible lines
Spring comes, cleansing months of cold and barren skies in pleasing rain
Eroding away the … shell, and crust of deceptive hours hard without hope”

AND:

“Familiar hums in sweet and
Welcome time”

applause for this advent of Spring 'penning' !!

You are one fine poet, Diamond, and I agree with Martie, just love that part.
