               THE ROSE BUD
                 By Billie Cullimore

         A little girl came down to earth
         It seems out of the blue.
         An angel delivered her,
         Brought her just for you.

         A little girl? Oh! what a thrill.
         God knew that you'd be glad.
         So He sent a little lady,
         Instead of a hardy lad.

         You have a tiny rose bud
         That you can watch unfold.
         Each petal a glorious wonder.
         For your loving eyes to behold.

         She has you in the palm of her hand
         She is something rare and bold.
         Her smile can turn stone into sand,
         Your rose is starting to unfold.

         This fragrant flower, that is your child,
         Makes you laugh and sometimes cry.
         With her firm hold on your heart,
         You can't get mad. Even if you try.

         Roses do some times have thorns.
         But, with Gods help there is no fear.
         Daughters, like rose bushes
         Grow more beautiful every year.
