Primal instincts fulfilled far more frequently when the left brain is left out
Critical thinking coated in cigarette smoke and perfectly cooled beverages
Art flies in forms of bodies connecting, while textbooks tumble to the edge of the bed
Music and good spirits lay equations to rest

Chalkboard dust fills the room,
Containing the remnants of the inner-workings of other peoples minds
History is rewritten with a personal picture attached,
The long nights spent sprawled on the floor as you fervently laughed

The creators of beauty of feeling were forced to sacrifice
A part of their soul, a part of their life
To lay out the maps
Equipped with breathing legends
To help logistic learners,
Learn lifes less logistic lessons

Three cheers for our hard work
Traveling to islands of our minds uncharted
Through the pain, the insane and the projects we never started
We're grown and developed into entities of empathy, which may be the hardest
But that is the life, The life of an artist

SO many images to sort through, right-brained moments prevail when art rules the moment.
Gathering together images and re-creating something new, something with a unique point of view....that is true art.

thank you for all the replies everybody! I've revamped this poem and taken it to a new extreme and I'll be posting the new version soon. I'm using it as a slam poem.

xx
