I see a sea of sunflowers
waving their cheerful heads at me,
then staring into the pure cobalt sky,
captured by the gaze
of the Firesun's eye,
demanding I rise to greet the day
with palette and brush, Vincent's way;
bold splashes of life
emblazoned in all its strife,
Naples yellow and crow-black
on a primal canvas
stretched to its limits,
taut as a violin string
waiting to spring forth
notes of agony and yearning
into the arms of the universe.

I rise, greet the brilliant dawn
filled with hope
mingled with anticipation,
resolved to release passionate life-hues,
to exhale the essence,
the very breath of me and you.
But the brush hesitates,
unwilling to attempt to imitate,
gently reminding me
there could only be
one Vincent.

I see a sea of sunflowers.

some grand stuff here!:

“Vincent's way …

bold splashes of life
emblazoned in all its strife…

on a primal canvas
stretched to its limits,
taut as a violin string
waiting to spring forth
notes of agony and yearning
into the arms of the universe.”

MUCH long-sustained applause for this fine 'penning'!!

Thanks, Bruce. I'm waiting to see sunflowers in the yard, not just in my dreams.
Vincent knew how to capture these magnificent gifts of life in living color.

Kacy,
your pen and Van Gogh's paintbrush
make a dynamic duo!

Kacy, I should have guessed the moment I saw "Sunflower".  But what a wonderful combination (again, but ever new with each of your poems into which he bursts) and what a WONNNNNNNNNNNNNNDERFUL way to celebrate Pip's happiness at your miraculously improved health!  (Hope the lunch was good yesterday).  A happy face and a sunflower and the news you brought us yesterday - far better than winning the jackpot!  And what a poem!  It is a celebration on its own!  One of your very best!

Oh, and I meant to say, there may well be only one Vincent - but far more important than that - there is only one Kacy!

Yo dear Kacy,

This reminds me of the sunflowers we used to have in the back yard when I was growing up in Altoona, PA.  They were big, and the seeds were good to eat.

Love Bobby

Kacy,

A couple of years ago, I was driving up Goldstream Road into the valley and I glanced to my left.  I had to stop.  Someone had planted a sea of Sunflowers.  They were in full bloom and smiling at the road.  If they return this year, I'll get a picture for you.

I love Sunflowers.

As a professional artist, this could have been writen by myself. I felt every stretch of the canvas. Very nice.

One Vincent all right, but also it's true for you: lTHERE IS ONLY ONE KACY!

We are all unique and your poetry emits awesome colors, dear Kacy!

I had missed this masterpiece, glad I found it today.

Love and sunflower smiles.

Kacy, Someplaces in Oregon, it's red and yellow tulips...fields of them in valley's beneath spring skies.  I could swim in your sea of brown-eyed susans, though, and felt the reach of vibrance in your soul. Vincent is lucky to have his view of sunflowers come to life in your eyes.

Love to you

The first spring after Katrina hit N.O., the New Orleans area was awash with sunflowers.

And no, there was no campaign to plant them, there weren't even many people here to plant 'em if there was an organization of such...

I saw it as hope.

I hope you do too, lovie.
