Many people
mistakenly pegged Bones
for being hard,
and impervious to fear.

Such was not the case.

Some clients
had caused him
terrible physical pain
in the past.

Bones lived in constant fear
that that would happen again.

Bones had no choice.
His talents were really
quite limited.

He wasn’t a smart child.
It was the only thing
he knew how to do.

He probably only thought he was dumb. I thought I was dumb for a while too, after being told I was.

Please bear in mind, that there is nothing wrong with being dumb, and dumb does not mean stupid. It just sometimes limits your choices, and makes you work harder.

I'm glad the poem and remark worked for you.

The idea of dumb takes me back many years to when I worked at a hotel. It was a live-in arrangement. I had a "dumb" room mate, who was pushed to the edge, and I, in my youth, didn't help. The poor kid tried to commit suicide twice. I don't know what finally happened to him. I pray for forgiveness.

I'll have to write a poem about that experience.

Poor Bones he was only doing what he had to do.
However, living in fear is no picnic for anybody let alone poor ol rejected Bones.
He had a hard life Bobby but he was an inspiration to you. Now to others through your words.
