Have you found what you're searching for Down the endless highways of this life Has your soul ached so long to receive Refuge from yet another sleepless night Have you felt like it's time to surrender Does the music drown the sound of your pain The crowds now become a part of your emptiness As you gaze at the neon signs once again Do you seek comfort in the merriment around you Dance with feet keeping rhythm but not your mind Shut your eyes tightly, dreaming of someone else Their heartbeat next to yours keeping time The lights now brighten, once again closing time Reluctant you return to a dark and empty home Bury your head deep in that damp pillow Knowing all dreams end when we awake at dawn [This message has been edited by Paul D. I really liked this poem alot. It reminds me of this girl I used to know...the one that got away. How I sometimes wonder if I ever even cross her mind half as much as she crosses mine. I have a question about this part: Has your soul ached so long to receive Refuse from yet another sleepless night Do you mean to ask if the soul aches for garbage? Or did you mean to say "refuge"? The latter makes sense. The former does not. |
