A crystal butterfly lays shattered on the ground, Angry fists smash against soft lavender walls. The rainbow of her world fades to grey and brown, In a wave of tender innocence, a child's tears fall. His eyes are ravenous, wild with darkened rage, Searching her out in the shadows of her tiny room. The girl trembles and his vivid hatred grows savage, As lost within a fantasy she awaits inevitable doom. The heated words come first, a rain of jagged stone, Ripping, piercing into the walls of her very soul. His blackened hatred poisons the girl down to the bone, And she wishes him banished to the fires of hell below. "You are worthless, a burden, you do not deserve life!" Are the words that echo between fiery flashes of pain. She wonders what she did to put him through such strife, As slowly her vision grows deeply crimson stained. "You are the source of your mother's death, child!" Are the lies he feeds into her guilt ravaged heart. She huddles in absolute terror as his anger runs wild, As with a final blow her last hope is ripped apart. A crystal butterfly lays shattered on the ground, Next to the withering shell of a child once so innocent.
