Stars shine overhead, diamonds woven into a midnight tapestry, Glistening, shining eyes to the elusive heavens above. Softened spotlights for the souls that truly believe, A sparkling net of jewels carved from the essence of love. Poets from a time long passed etch their words upon the night, And the pulse of their depthful hearts echoes in the silence. Upon their outstretched guiding wings new dreamers take flight, Ready to shower their thoughts within the eerie stillness. The music of soulful tears fills the outstretched hands of eternity, As the milky moonlight bathes the tenderly sleeping earth. Most have given up human compassion, but a few still believe, Some still wish to offer their words of love and mirth. So as my eyes gaze upon heaven's brilliant jewels embedded in the sky, I pour out my wisdom to the blackened cloak of the quiet night. Unlike so many, I am one who will not let my heart shrivel and die, I will etch my words throughout eternity and watch them take flight. ------------------ *Krista Knutson* |
