I am saddened today from news that a friend has just passed from a brain tumor. Darla Chevalier was an excellent teacher, and all who knew her will miss her greatly. She was to have distance taught my daughter's US Constitution class this year via the internet, but I was notified three weeks ago that she was too ill and I needed to teach the class myself. I also lost my DSL connection Tues and it is still down, but reconnected the slow dialup ISP for now.
I won't be posting much for a few days, but will come in to read.
Darla was so wonderful. I worked with her for two years in Alaska, and she will be greatly missed. She really liked my daughter and was looking forward to teaching her the ins and outs of our most important government document.
Goodbye, Darla, you were truly wonderful, from
Kacy and Sara

My prayers are with you and your daughter, for the loss of a good friend is as deep as that of a family member...

Kacy,
The cycles of life. Some are so painful. Peace and courage to you both and to her family. Teachers make such huge impacts in so many lives. What a blessing they are.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Kacy you know I know this one, it hurts.  I hope you and Sarah will support each other through this loss, and may God take your friend to peace.

Larry, so true, many teachers are undervalued, but most provide more than we ever realize until they aren't there.

riley, thank you for your support.

Sharon, you understand the impact. But we are forging ahead, and Darla's wings will carry us through the year.

Kacy, I just ran across this post and I know it's been a couple of weeks, but I still wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss of a dear friend. I have friends who are closer to me than some of my family is. I hope you are feeling at least a little better.

Thank you so much for your reply, Ethel. I am OK, just a bit shocked and frustrated, as Darla never told anyone those last three months that she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We only knew she was ill, not terminally ill. She was wonderfully supportive of me when family and a few well meaning friends tried to talk me out of home schooling.

Kacy, one of my very best friends home schooled her two children. One of the girls is 20 now and finished when she was 17, I think. The other one graduated this past June from home school. A few families in our Church homeschool their children. When they finish school, they have graduation exercises for them at our Church.

It's good to have support from a friend when you start to do something different, isn't it?

Talk to you later....

~Ethel~
