I have learned a very important lesson over the last few days. Unfortunately, I learned it too late for myself, but far more importantly, I learned it too late for the person who had to remind me of it.

The lesson is that if you only listen to the words you want to hear, then you have already stopped listening to the person speaking those words. When you stop listening, you don't deserve to have that person speak to you at all. I did that and I hurt someone, very badly.

Saying "sorry" could never be enough to make up for the wrongs I have done. I am sorry, sorrier than I have ever been in my life, but I will not insult that person by asking them to forgive me.

I'm posting this, not to ease my conscience, but in the hope that it might stop someone, anyone, making the same mistake I did.

Well, that's it. take heed of these words and it may save someone some pain.

I dunno, but it sounds like YOU learned a valuable lesson in life here. Go to the Corner Pub and read Maya the Brokenhearted's poem entitled "He Forgot to Listen", it almost sounds written for you. I hope all works well for you, things will get better, I know. How do I know you say? Well trust me, when the only way you can go is UP, everything and anything is better LOL!

Thankyou for replying X Angel. And thanks for pointing me in the direction of Maya's poem. You were right

I didn't think that I would be able to write any poetry any more, but *shrug* I came up with one while I was thinking some stuff over at work. I don't think you'll like it though.

I believe most of us are poor listeners anyway. But, is there no greater compliment then to really listen to what a person has to say. I think you are a better person for that mistake and this will benefit you in the future.
