~*~ Blue Iris ~*~

Iris…blue
Given to you
In this nice day
Given perhaps in an unexpected way

You hold it near
& sway
With memories dear
Of one so near
Yet far away
Of a day so clear
Blue
It was like the sea
With a cloudless sky
As you came along with me
And yet you cry
You cry…
As you hold this bouquet of iris in your hand
Praying that you'd understand
What does iris say
Given to you in an unexpected way
From one who lived in your heart alway

"Herein lies the message"
The Iris say
Come closer
Try to see
The message hidden within me
Blue as the sky
And even bluer still
I hide the message
Within my cell.

In the language of flowers
IRIS,BLUE means "Herein lies the message"
{Skolnick, Solmon M. The language of flowers.}

I wrote many poems before about flowers (and posted them here)and their meanings using the same book mentioned above but It's been a looooooong time since I attempted to write about flowers. I was angry with my muse for not stirring until today I saw this wonderful bouquet of blue Iris and…well, the words came. I hope they worth your attention.

Thank you

Totally delightful! ~ the flowers, the poem and the information!

I surround myself with fresh flowers all year long! I even wear floral perfumes and spray my linens with floral scents.

An iris is not one of the more fragrant flowers ~ but they make up for that with their beauty! Actually, my maiden name means "Iris"!

I would love to read more poems by you on flowers!  Flowers

It's my delight that you have enjoyed much...

I just loooooove flowers & though I live in a place were they are scarce ...I still love them and if I can't find them at least have them in pictures and words.

Thank you dearly...
if you really like to read my other flower poems ...just do a little search on my poetry

Melody, this is lovely as are Blue Iris.  Ones like these grew in my backyard when I was growing up.  Brought back many memories.

So nice to see you posting again, and I find it so strange that the flowers that are the loviest last the least in a vase lovely poem.
