~*~ The Jasmine within him ~*~

He came today
With a smile
Shining through all the miles
Handed me a jasmine
He picked up in his way

I took it and pinned it
To my collar
Close to my heart
He looked at it
Then said
“Pray that you and I
Would never be a part
That I would be even closer
To your heart
Than that jasmine
Sitting there”

I smiled wishing to tell him
He should have no fear
That he indeed resides there
Even when he seems far

He gave me a silent tender look
And said
You are a jasmine too…
A jasmine
That books
Can be written to tell of you

A jasmine!…sir?

Oh…yes…
A lovely flower
That needs special care

Small and delicate
Just like you are
You are the most delicate person
I’ve seen by far
A lofty creature
Coming from a distant star

They say that a white Jasmine
Is an amiable symbol
Given to an amiable soul
Your soul stands
Erect and tall
Even if it is clad in an attire
So small

He got closer
Bent his head
To smell the scent
Of the Jasmine
Held in me

He sighed
And whispered
You are truly
The Jasmine I long to hold
I no longer know
If what I smelled
Was the Jasmine scent
Or that of you

I breathe you
Every day
With the scent of the Jasmine
Covered with dew
Don’t you know?
That I’ve always seen you so

The tender
Soft
white
delicate
Petals
Have always told me
So much
Of
you
The tender touch
The soft hush
The innocent heart
White and shining from the start
Every delicate word
Or move you make
Which always causes my heart to shake

And every day
Before I sleep
I bring a jasmine
To keep
Right there between my hands
It has taught me something
I now understand
That you are not simply
To be kept within my hand
But within
My every breath
And every cell in me
In my soul
You will always be
The jasmine
Right there
Within me…

Just when I thought I had been spoiled enough tonight to some very special poetry, along comes this wonderful work of passion.  Such beautiful words and thoughts conveyed in a superb writing from beginning to end.  I truely enjoyed this one and will be saving it in my library for future enjoyment.  I applaud your talent in both style and presentation.

This is fantastically beautiful! I love the smell of jasmine, and the poem and the picture put that sweet scent right into my room. What a great poem. A keeper, to freshen the room with its scent each time I read.

I think most of us would have their own interpretations regarding flowers...won't you agree?

Thank you dearest friend

Melody, you have outdone even your beautiful self, in this poem. You have spoken of the way I think love should be. In such a special way.

...and the eyes reflect both the soul and what they see...  I've never been one big on parties, but this looks most enchanting.  Shall I bring my Flamenco guitar?
