Mommy Muys, almost NINETY FIVE YEARS OLD Dear Friends I think it's time to call upon your poetic skills I challenge you to write a verse for dearest Muys, my Mom She will be ninety five real soon on August twenty four and I would love to hang her wall full of words you wrote You may put them in your reply or send them over by mail I'll take drawings by children too and print them out on paper white with name attached She will be thrilled you know I want as many as I can get so she can show to all who come that friendship from the pages blue is stretching overseas or flowing in on clouds of white in air that's filled with love And maybe one or two of you are willing to bump this up in time because it's known it's going down quite rapidly sometimes It's not for me but for my MOM who is enjoying life still driving her car to church and friends and playing cards with same of age roaming nature scooterwise and telling me how much she loved her friends from pages blue a little drawing made by my father in 1935, just after meeting my Mom (Muys or muis, means mouse, a nickname given by her father when she was little, and she has been called that ever since) Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

What a good photo of your mom. It's good to hear she's still doing well. And what a neat drawing your dad did! Happy birthday to your mom! Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Momma Muy, To have a hubby so enamoured that he sketched a glamous mouse, gave to you a precious nickname that 95 years couldn't douse... (Something behind it just makes me grit my teeth with envy!) Happy birthday, Lovely Lady! miscellanea ~~~~ Titia, Linda's right. National Geographic would be after this pic. Your mother's stunning! miscellanea |

Titia, a little letter for your Mother... I tried again and again to write a poem...and it just wasn't there. But this was. Give her birthday knuffles for me. Love, Karilea ~*~ Dear Mummy Muys I tried to write a poem for you, and instead, I thought I would write a small note. Your tenacity for life, my dear poet, comes to us not only through your own words, but that of your talented child. Your have given to her your gifts of life; and you have bequeathed to her the marvels of your sight, not to mention your will power. While I did not get to meet Titia when she came to the states, still, I sent her some dirt, and a pair of miniature ruby slippers to take home with her. As I have read through the years of about you through her, I imagine [and possibly quite rightly that you encouraged her to come to the States to meet her poet friends. I am glad you did. I only wish you could make the trip someday. In our imaginations, you leave much for us think about. As you are just a couple of years younger than my own mother-in-love {MIL}, I would believe you have seen most everything you could have imagined, and then some. I know that my own MIL doesn’t quite understand the computer or how it reaches out to the world; for this, I am glad for you! After my MIL got married in her early thirties, she went straight back to the farm and lived the life of a farmer/rancher’s wife. She is a woman of many talents, and her mind is still as sharp as ever was. Her body gives her aches and pains that she does not complain about, and if God is good, he will give me by osmosis her integrity in that area. He will, if He has a mind to, to give me her memory as well. In the last few weeks, knowing by word of your daughter that your birthday was coming up, I’ve been watching my own MIL with even more respect and compassion. I have likened your lives one to the other, and have thanked God for our living treasures. I cannot imagine what you might not have ever shared with your daughter, Mother Muys, but if there is still a treasure to share, than share it. Good or bad, share it, and let her know just how much you’ve seen in your lifetime. Parents sometimes think we “kids” just “know” all of what you know; and that is just not so. So, dear, dear Poet, if there is a gift to give, my gift to you is to ask that you continue to share with your daughter, by word or deed, that she may pass it on to us. You are a teacher, with almost a century’s worth of education. Pass it on, as you blow out your candles. Happy Birthday, Mummy Muys. Love, Karilea |

Thank you all so much for the lovely words towards my Mom. I'll put them up for everybody to read and Sunshine, though my Mom and I had our moments in the past, because we both have strong minds, I honestly can tell that she's been my best friend the last years, telling me all the things I need to know about the life she has been living. Thank you for writing your letter. Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

She may not stand as straight and tall As she did years before And footsteps make a slower path When she walks out her door. Her face may show a wrinkled path Down decades come and gone And bones may creak a little With the coming of each dawn... But there's a twinkle in her eye A smile upon her face. Her features still contain a world Of dignity and grace. Her body holds a heart of gold For all who pass her way And I am proud to know her on This very special day. There's no way to imagine all The things that she's been through, A small child back in World War I, A wife in World War II. She got her family through it all With work and sacrifice A testament to victory For those who pay the price. My best to you, dear Momma. May your wishes all come true. I wish you health and happiness In everything you do. Though many years have left their mark You made it through it all And you're a giant in my eyes Three hundred meters tall!!!! |
