Between the Lines

The Simple Days

feel the pressures building
those of need versus want
walls to divide

double booking fantasies
to fill the cold night air
in season

no words of meaning
just open ended sentences
where 99 bottles of...
works its way to self-reflection
of an unknown writer

where I am always "out of"
my enchanted forest long cut down
to supply the after effect ashes
of the slightest feel of warmth

mysting this morning
for the "hold me's" of simple yearnings
the days when life was not addicting,
could come or go unnoticed

now the clock ticks the seconds
the sound in stillness
louder and louder
waiting the old year out
the new to come
and a vacancy in my heart
to be filled
