For only a seat


If i could sit
where her heart lies
standing she did
while sitting

bringing worlds together
for equal
with a lesson
not in school
life's hard learning

difiance brought justice
on a chilly December first
in the year of
nineteen hundred fifty five
declaring her right
she refused

refused to give up
or not to give up
for only a seat is was
like on many buses alike
and her sitting
still stands tall
